The Minister met with Claire Durkin, Head of Global Science, Innovation and Knowledge Economy at the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, on January 25, 2018, in order to stop the current trend of the UK to support further scientific cooperation with Egypt. In Egypt and follow up progress in activating the scientific part of the agreement signed between the two countries

H.E The Minister Dr. Khaled AbdulGhaffar visited the Alan Turing Research Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence;The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of the United Kingdom. The meeting was held on Thursday 25th of January 2018. The delegation was attended by Prof. Dr. Andrew Blake, Director of scientific research at the Foundation, where he made a presentation about the institution, which was founded in 2015 with governmental funding and in partnership with five British universities with a high international classification which are the University of Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh, UCL and York. In November 2017, four other universities - Queen Mary, Manchester, Leeds, University of London and New Castle - joined the partnership. The Foundation has a number of distinguished researchers and a number of doctoral students enrolled in the participating universities, but they are doing their research in the Alan Turing Foundation. The Minister agreed that a group of Egyptian researchers will be sent for scientific training at the institution or to attend the institute's summer school.
