Upon the invitation of the British University of Liverpool, H.E Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghafar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Johansen Eid, Chairman of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, and Dr. Mohamed Salehin, Advisor to the Minister for Strategic Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Reem Bahgat, Cultural Counselor and Head of the UK Educational Mission, visited the University of Liverpool on 24th of January 2018. The delegation was received by Professor Dame Janet Bear, President of the University, and the House of Representatives. His Excellency Dr. Khaled Abdul Ghaffar expressed the keenness of His Excellency the President that Egypt will once again be the beacon of higher education in the Arab and African region and stressed the importance of the geographical situation that attracts Egypt. His Excellency explained the Higher Education Plan 2030 and the importance of expanding the different types of education, Foreign countries have agreed to open international branches of their universities in Egypt. University representatives stressed their interest in opening a branch of the university in Egypt in partnership with the Egyptian government Joint Venture to become a non-profit university. The university administration believes that the signing of the bilateral agreement between the two ministries of higher education as an organizational framework for opening branches of British universities in Egypt is a very good step to confirm Egypt's keenness to encourage international branches; the university is currently waiting for the issuance of the law governing universities international branches.
